Layout: Once the cards are dealt, you'll see several piles of cards on the table: The Stock on the top left are cards that have not been played. Click on the top card to flip it over. The pile of flipped cards will make up the Talon. If you can find a place for it, you can always play the top (face up) card from the Talon. The Foundation is the top right row of 4 cards. To start the Foundation pile, place an Ace as the first card of each pile. The Tableau beneath it is the row containing 7 piles of cards, with the top card of each pile face up.
The game starts with 28 cards dealt out into 7 piles on the Tableau, with the top card in each pile face up, and all the other cards face down. The first pile contains 1 card (face up), the second pile 2 cards, the third pile 3 cards, and so on up to 7 cards in the last pile.
Game Goals
The goal is to build up piles of the 4 suits (clubs, diamonds, hearts and spades) of cards in the upper row (the Foundation), starting with the Ace, until the King. Each pile must be of the same suit and in order (Ace, 2, 3, 4, etc.)
Game Rules
Any movable card (from the Tableau, the Foundation, the Stock or the Talon) can be placed on a card in the Tableau that is the next-highest in rank and of the opposite card color. For example: A red 7 may be played on a black 8, or a black Jack may be played on a red Queen. If there is more than one card on top of the card you want to move, you must move your selected card along with all the cards above it. When there is no face-up card left on a pile, the top card can be turned over. If you move the last card in a pile, you can start that pile again by placing a King in the empty spot.
Solitaire Game Strategy
As you play on the Tableau, you will also want to build up the stacks on the Foundation, where you must play the next highest ranking card of the same suit on each pile. In the Foundation row of 4 piles, you must play the Ace first, and then the 2 of the same suit next and so on.
Scoring and Winning Soitaire
In order for your score to be counted, make sure that you're logged in to your ChevronCars.com account before launching the game. Each game starts off at 100 points. You get 10 points for each card you place in the Foundation, and 5 points for each new card you place in the Tableau. You can quit the game at any time and record your score by clicking on the Deal Again button. To finish the game, you must complete the 4 piles of Foundation cards from Ace through King, all in the same suit. Play as quickly as possible, because you'll lose 2 points for every 10 seconds of play. If you run out of cards to play from the Tableau or the Talon, you can flip a card from the Stock pile, but if you go all the way through the Stock cards and then start again, you lose 100 points. A few games, and you'll be an expert!
